Story
My names is Tara Lumley. It’s Taken a long time and lots of stories to get here
but here’s my story……
I’m originally from New Jersey. I started out in high school doing a poly tech program for the culinary to see if was the avenue I wanted to pursue. I loved it. Loved creating different types of food but most of it all I loved the art of it. So after I graduated I was excepted into The Culinary Institute of America. Once I was there you need to apply for an internship and since you can choose anywhere, I knew I had to go somewhere new and not home. Sorry Mom and Dad!!! So, I worked at The Boca Raton Resort and Club in Florida. It was amazing. Was able to work different outlets in pastry from desserts all the way to making breads. Once my internship was over I had to finish up at CIA but once I graduated I started to work for a catering company out of Princeton NJ that had a restaurant, bakery and also did most of the catering at the time at Princeton University and also at all their venues. After a few years I knew and my goal was to go back down to Florida. So, apply to a few places but one stuck out the most. That was The Ritz Carlton Golf Resort in Naples Fl. I worked my way up from banquets all the way to making menus and developing them. After 10 years working at other establishments, I knew it was time to move closer back with my family since I had a 3-year-old. So, we decided to move to Asheville, NC. Worked at The Biltmore Estate at Lioncrest, Deerpark, Diana’s and off Property Catering. I loved working there being creative especially all the wedding cakes and all the special functions. But I was expecting our 2 son and, in this industry, I didn’t want my kids to be in daycare 24/7 because also the holidays and weekend we also need to work. So, I took a step back to be with my kids and worked for a daycare cooking culinaryfor them. My dream has always been starting my own business so here I am making my dream happen.
Thanks so much! Tara
